Default Help with clearing out some HDD space

I'm buying a new computer and I'm trying to free up some old space on my old one before I give it to my friend. I ran a disk defrag and cleancup but alot of my space is still used up and I've deleted just about anything I can find.

Default To the rescue!

a defrag doesnt do much to free up space, it just puts in order so your computer can read it faster, it compresses a few files, most likley system files you rarely ever use (dont take me to the bank on that one), but dont lose hope yet... if u go into My Computer and back click on yer main drive (the one you want to save space on) and goto properties theres a few options there for ya under the main tab, first being the Disk Cleanup (but you said youve done this) under it theres a little check box that says "Compress drive to save disc space" (ill include a pic)

now if that doesnt work doo your self a favor and download a program called
TuneUp Utilities 2006 from www.download.com . this programs a god send, if youyr good with computers itll walk you through a bunch of computer optimizing steps like saving disc space! hooray for smart geeks like the ppl who made this program

Might I suggest: format c:

Just kidding.

You might run the Cleanup Wizard (or something like that...I'd check, but I'm in Linux right now). Under Program Files -> Accessories -> System Tools.

I use a tool called Spacemonger to help me find/locate things that are taking up a good chunk of space. Version 1.4.0 is a free download.
